Sectarian Murder Series by Paul Seawright

Golden Thread Gallery, Belfast, will present Paul Seawright’s Sectarian Murder Series this September, revisiting one of the most significant photographic responses to the Troubles. Made in the late 1980s, the series pairs understated images of everyday landscapes with text recounting sectarian killings that occurred at each site.

“I have always been fascinated by the invisible, the unseen,” Seawright notes.

Recently acquired for the gallery’s Collective Histories of Northern Ireland collection, the work returns at a moment of renewed focus on legacy and memory. A public artist’s talk will accompany the exhibition.
