Rye Museum: Making & Materials

We are holding events on the theme ‘making and materials’ over the course of the weekend of 9-11th October. Our focus is on clay as our material and we will be referencing our collection of pottery at Rye museum and the long-standing pottery tradition in Rye from medieval times until the current day. On Friday we will be hosting a print making workshop (10.30am-1.30pm) based on the shapes and decoration of our medieval pottery collection. On both Saturday and Sunday we will be holding a pottery throwing demonstration using a replica of a medieval wheel. These demonstrations will take place hourly on the hour (11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm). The weekend demonstrations are free.
