Illuminated Histories: A Field Guide

How does the material we read connect us to the spaces we inhabit? What prompts, insights & reflections do we take from literature about the world around us? From the earliest manuscripts, humans have been led into, inspired by & informed about the natural world through text – our intrinsic connections to the very essence of life tracked, recorded, shaped & shared by the word.

Join us for an exploration into the relationship between humans & the natural world through books. Facilitated by Dr. Annouchka Bayley, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, this reading group brings to life rich examples of literature from the museum’s collection & aims to offer space to consider, nurture & cultivate ideas about our own experience of the natural world today.
