I shall call you crocus! The creative life force of Jessie Marion King

This year is the 150th birthday of the phenomenal Glasgow-born illustrator, designer and creative polymath Jessie Marion King. The birds, animals and flowers that teemed from King’s pen and imagination were never static but full of energy and the vibrancy of life. The inherent unbridled joy within King’s artistic inventions transfers to the viewer like a dopamine hit on a sunny day, a quality that helped make her the most commercially successful of all the Glasgow-Style artists. Join Alison Brown, Curator for European Decorative Art and Design 1851-present, for a store visit looking at Jessie’s celebration of the natural world and how her work compares with that of some of her Glasgow Style contemporaries.
