Friday Lates: performance by Rob St John
Artist and musician Rob St John presents a unique performance using field recordings, ambient composition and live acoustics, responding to the northern landscapes and the River Dee, depicted in Richard Wilson’s paintings found in Room 34.
Drawing on his long-standing work with communities and landscapes across Northern England, he presents pieces from his recent projects ‘Are You Lost?’ and ‘Lagg’, which explore land access, ecological imagination and deep time, as well as discussing how they came about.
Rob St John
Rob is an artist, musician and writer based in rural Lancashire. His practice is focused on the blurrings of nature and culture in contemporary landscapes. He works primarily across installation, sound, moving image and text. His work, usually based on slow periods of fieldwork and socially engaged practice, has been shown/heard at Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum, The Barbican, The British Museum, Tramway Glasgow, The Royal Geographical Society, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and many others. He has released a number of records and toured across the UK, Europe and the USA.
