Curator Tour – Imprint: Women Artists and the Reading School of Art, 1890-1930

Women played a vital role in the University of Reading’s early School of Art. This display brings fresh attention to women students who made prints, exploring both their artistic processes and varied careers. This tour, delivered by Curator of Art, Dr Hannah Lyons, explores the ways in which these students adopted wood block printing in the Japanese style — a pioneering method of printmaking at this time.

This tour is free but places are limited. Please be aware that the tour will involve walking within our exhibition space and that gallery seating is not available. Folding stools are available upon request. The tour is wheelchair accessible via a lift from ground to first floors. Entrance via The Museum of English Rural Life (The MERL). Please gather to meet our team in the MERL café.
