Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts at the V&A: A Conversation with the Curator
Join V&A Curator Xiaoxin Li and Sotheby’s Institute of Art lecturer Ivy Yi Yan Chan for an online conversation on the ground-breaking exhibition Dimensions: Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts.
Dimensions is the fruit of a pioneering project that researches and collects studio crafts made in China since the 1980s. The project sought to document the ecosystem through which the field has developed: its educational institutions, production centres, artistic lineages, material innovations and international exchanges. This talk examines the curatorial principles that informed the formation of the collection, the museum display and accompanying publication, offering insight into the processes of exhibition-making.
Dimensions is on display at V&A South Kensington until 26 September 2027.
