Birds

This is a free, one-room, transhistorical display in room 7 at Tate Britain. It brings together a selection of art from the Tate collection to celebrate the wonder and beauty of birds. Thirty-two works are shown by twenty different British artists, from the 17th century to now. While some artists might revel in precise depiction, picking out each feather in detail, others suggest form or movement with a shape or line. More recently, artists have highlighted the challenges birds face in a changing environment, such as the effect of chemical use and habitat loss. See works by Cedric Morris, Elisabeth Frink, Aubrey Williams and many others.
