Museum Late: The Art of Reinvention
Join us for a special Museum Late during London Design Festival exploring the beauty of repair, reuse and reinvention. Including gallery tours, a pop-up market of local East London designers (featuring Aelfred, Amateur Weather Observers, Fran Gibson, HOST and more), a streamed concert by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra inspired by the art of kintsugi, and a sustainable ceramics workshop with House of Frisson.
What’s on
Every day, millions of household items are discarded, often before they’ve reached the end of their potential life. Now, more than ever, we need to start rethinking waste and exploring ways to reuse, repurpose, and transform the materials around us. Art plays a vital role in this shift; it challenges perceptions, reshapes habits, and sparks new ways of seeing the resources we already have. House of Frisson is built on this ethos, turning discarded ceramics into bold, meaningful artwork that speaks to identity, transformation, and reinvention.
Join artist Luciano Rocha for a hands-on collage workshop celebrating artistic storytelling, sustainability, and creative reuse. Explore collage as a medium for transformation, cutting and layering meaningful imagery onto discarded ceramic plates, embracing the beauty of repurposing materials and turning fragments into powerful expressions of creativity. Participants will incorporate symbolic elements, creating meaningful and thoughtful compositions on plate surfaces, transforming what used to be a discarded plate into an artwork that can be proudly hung on the wall.
After the session, Luciano will take the creations and apply a protective sealer to the designs, ensuring they are preserved against damage. Participants will be able to collect their finished artworks at an agreed time.
