Online Introduction to Un-Still by Hannah Maybank
This event has been postponed. To see when it is rescheduled, visit New Art Gallery Walsall’s site.
Hannah Maybank is an artist with a close relationship to the The New Art Gallery Walsall’s Collections. Alice Weldon’s drawing of Cyclamen inspired her Art A Level, and now sits alongside Hannah’s own painting of Autumnal Chrysanthemums, gifted for the Gallery’s 25th birthday. Hannah’s practice is rooted in the flowers and still life genre and she relishes being at one with nature; growing flowers in her garden to draw again and again, in correspondence with the seasons, and experimenting with raw materials to make dyes from which to develop beautiful watercolours. Join Hannah and Collections Curator, Julie Brown, for an in-depth look at the Un-Still exhibition and these innovative ‘living still lifes’, paintings which change according to their environment, representing the fluidity of nature and humankind.
