Artists Talk: Memories of Lady Gibberd & Celebrating Artistic Friendship

On Saturday 10 October we will be celebrating the centenary of the birth of Lady Patricia Gibberd (1926-2006), a founding member of Harlow Art Trust, a community advocate, co-creator of the acclaimed Gibberd Garden in Harlow and the wife of Sir Frederick Gibberd, Master Planner of Harlow New Town.

In the afternoon artists Jane Ackroyd, Denise de Cordova and Katharine MacCarthy will share their memories of working with Lady Gibberd. Known as the ‘Three Marys’, these artists all graduated from the RCA in 1983 and have remained friends. Jane Ackroyd’s sculpture Cat was purchased by Harlow Art Trust at the 1983 degree show and it remains on display in the Gibberd Gallery today. The three artists were part of an exhibition in 1986 on the roof of the RIBA Headquarters in London that involved Lady Gibberd.

Admission is free but please book a ticket to the 13:45 Artists Talk on Eventbrite.
