The Science of Art: Inside the National Trust’s Conservation Studio
Science and art history come together in the National Trust’s Royal Oak Foundation Conservation Studio – join this free online talk to hear from National Trust conservators and curators and pose your questions to the team. The National Trust looks after over 1 million objects and aims to inspire millions more people to care about and for them. Projects range from technical investigations into the unique collection of twentieth-century paintings on display at 2 Willow Road, London, to discoveries made during the conservation and analysis of a rare sixteenth-century painting by Jacopo Tintoretto, to the launch of the National Trust’s Paint Sample Archive and Microscopy Centre – a new resource that preserves thousands of historic paint samples, revealing histories of colour through the ages.
